It gives me an immense pleasure to welcome you at the website of Allama Iqbal Open University, one of the mega universities of the world. The doors of this mega university are open for each and every citizen of Pakistan and even for the foreigners living in the territory of Pakistan . In terms of students' enrolment, it is truly the largest university of the country. This university provides education of international standard at the doorsteps of the students with an affordable cost. The fee structure of this university is perhaps the lowest as compared to the fee structures of other universities in the country
AIOU is perhaps the only University where you can continue your education along with your job, business and domestic responsibilities. Women are especially encouraged to get admission to the programs of AIOU. A number of educational programs have especially been structured for female population. We particularly welcome female candidates to get education at AIOU. Therefore, female students are in majority in almost all programmes of the University.
As Vice Chancellor AIOU, my priority will be to strengthen the basic and higher education in the nooks and corners of the country, especially the deprived rural areas of Sindh and Balochistan. We have highly qualified and experienced faculty at our main campus and we will strengthen our faculty to provide higher education of international standard in rural areas. In the world of today the modern communication technology is playing greater role in providing facilities for the delivery system and quality education. Allama Iqbal Open University is making new strides in employing most modern communication technology to the service of education. The rapid advancement in information technology has helped a great deal in eliminating the physical distances. With latest innovations in computer and communication technology, the world has become a global village where information is readily available and accessible to everyone. AIOU has taken full advantage of the modern techniques of communication to facilitate and support its students all over the country e.g provision of student related information through web (with data bases at back end) and use of video conferencing for better quality education through lectures, workshops, viva etc. by expert faculty members.
